Procrastination wasn’t such a big problem when you were still working for your old boss, was it? But once we step into the great world of Home Business or MLM, it becomes one of our greatest time-sappers. Here are a few reasons why the painful, draining, conscious effort to beat procrastination is important.
First of all, remember that the best performers in MLM are those who are always on the move. They know that every moment they waste procrastinating may mean a missed opportunity, a missed sale, a missed recruit, etc. Chronic procrastination can postpone your date with financial security by several years — if you ever reach it at all in this lifetime!
Keep in mind that the more you putting off doing something, the uglier it gets when the time comes that you really have to do it. It’s like washing dishes — I’ll admit I used to wait until the sink was full of dirty dishes, just so I could wash everything in one go. But it was always more stressful that way — the dishes were not only harder to get clean, but they started to smell bad, too.
A good way of dealing with procrastination is to simply find something else productive to do. It’s okay to watch TV, for instance, but don’t JUST watch TV — get some exercise, clear your inbox, or muck out your workspace. You may not be doing real home business or MLM work, but at least you’re making it easier for yourself to get back to work when your drive does come back.
It’s also a good idea to spend your “procrastination hours” reading articles about your niche market and MLM in general. Let’s face it — even the best multilevel marketers need their “me” times. The only difference is that they’ve learned to love their work so much that it’s not really work for them — and they know that there’s always opportunities to become better marketers at every hour of the day.
Sure, we have different personalities and different methods and different businesses. But we all have the same 24 hours a day. The better you manage these 24 hours, the more work you’ll get done, and the earlier you’ll reach your financial goals in you chosen home business or MLM.
When you think about it, there’s a lot of things you can do with your down time, even if it’s just to send “thank you” e-mails to your customers, uplines and downlines. Get creative and write down the things you can do once the procrastination bug sets in.
