In MLM, it’s very important to build relationships with people, both online and in the real world. But no matter how many people you meet, it isn’t likely they’ll buy from you unless they like you first.

One of the easiest ways to make people like you is by putting a “face” on your MLM business. Too many home business or network marketers make the mistake of putting their logo front-and-center in all their personal and business dealings. In my opinion, that doesn’t make you any different from the stranger on your doorstep trying to make a sale.

#1 – Use a photo instead of a logo. This is particularly important when you do much of your marketing on the Internet. It doesn’t matter if you have a real snappy logo going — people on the ‘Net have probably seen thousands of logos in their time. What will they do when they see your logo in passing? Exactly — they ignore you 99% of the time.

Instead, try to use a photo of yourself. If you simply can’t get rid of your logo, then find a way to put your logo next to your face. Make sure it’s a nice photo of you — a shot of your head and shoulders should suffice, and you should be smiling — and people will be more likely to want to get to know you.

I actually find it funny to see network marketers trying to market themselves using logos. Sorry, but that’s just not right — not in MLM, at least.

#2 – Understand that people have to like you first. Remember that people won’t buy from you if they don’t like you, no matter how nice your product or service might be. You’ll have to be friendly and genuinely concerned for your customers’ welfare. (And no, faking it doesn’t count.)

In MLM or Home Business, the process goes like this — know, like, trust, then buy. They’ll have to know you first before they can like you, and they have to like you first before they can trust you. And finally, they’ll only buy from you if they know they can trust you.

How can you make your customers know, like, and trust you?

#3 – Find better ways to introduce yourself. Instead of telling your customers “I sell vitamins” (Bleagh), say something cooler, like — “I help people build their businesses” or “I help people make money.” Such replies only invite more conversation, and more chances for you to build relationships.

Remember that MLM and Home Business starts with selling to your friends. Don’t lose that premise as you build your business.
